More Than Skating: Danni’s Journey of Growth and Confidence

Two years ago, Danni stepped onto the ice for the first time. She was just beginning to discover a sport she would quickly fall in love with. Now, as she enters her third year with Dream Detroit, i can look back and see that this journey has given her so much more than the ability to skate. Today, i watch her step onto the ice with greater confidence, determination, and courage. She has learned that progress doesn’t happen overnight. It takes showing up, working hard, falling down, getting back up, and trying again. Through Dream Detroit, Danni has learned lessons that reach far beyond the rink. She is learning what dedication looks like. She is learning how to work as part of a team, support others, accept challenges, and push through moments when something feels difficult. Most importantly, she is learning to believe that she is capable of more than she may have thought possible. The coaches at Dream Detroit have encouraged Danni, challenged her, celebrated her accomplishments, and helped create an environment where she feels supported and valued. As a parent I can’t thank Dream Detroit enough for creating opportunities for young girls to discover their potential, build confidence, develop discipline, and find a community that believes in them.
